Well, you know, there ain’t nothin’ better than a big ol’ plate of ground beef and mashed potatoes. Now, I ain’t no chef or nothin’, but I reckon this meal right here’s one of them that makes the whole family happy, especially when it’s cold out. You just take some ground beef, throw it in a pan, and make a nice gravy to go with them creamy mashed potatoes. Can’t go wrong with that, no sir!
So, first thing you gotta do is get yourself some good ol’ ground beef. Don’t matter if it’s beef from the butcher or just what you got at the store, as long as it ain’t too fatty. You don’t want to be sittin’ there pickin’ out grease while you eat, do ya? You just cook that beef up in a skillet, nice and slow. Make sure it gets all browned up. That’s where the flavor comes from, y’know.
While that’s cookin’, you go ahead and start on them mashed potatoes. I like to use about five or six good-sized taters. Peel ‘em, chop ‘em up, and throw ‘em in a big pot of water to boil. When they’re soft enough to stick a fork in ‘em, you know they’re ready. Drain ’em, then it’s time to mash ’em up real good. I don’t bother with fancy gadgets, just a regular ol’ masher works fine. Add in some butter, salt, and pepper, and if you got a little milk or cream, that makes ‘em real smooth and creamy.
Now, don’t forget that gravy! Once your ground beef’s nice and browned, you need to make a good gravy outta that. Pour in some beef broth or water if you ain’t got broth, and let it simmer for a while so it thickens up. Stir it every now and then so it don’t burn on the bottom. You can add a little flour to thicken it up if it ain’t as thick as you’d like. I always add a pinch of salt and pepper, and if you want, you can throw in a bit of garlic or onion powder for that extra bit of flavor.
When everything’s ready, you just scoop yourself a good heap of mashed potatoes on your plate, pour that ground beef and gravy all over it, and there you go—ain’t that a meal! If you got any leftovers, don’t worry. This meal heats up real good the next day, and it’s just as tasty as the first time.
I tell ya, there’s somethin’ about the comfort of mashed potatoes and that savory beef gravy that just fills you up right and makes you feel all cozy inside. Don’t take too long to eat though, ’cause this meal’s mighty fine when it’s hot. Serve it up with a side of green beans or maybe some cornbread, and you’re all set for a dinner that’ll have everybody comin’ back for seconds.
So, next time you’re lookin’ for somethin’ simple, hearty, and just downright good, make you some ground beef and mashed potatoes. Ain’t nobody gonna complain, that’s for sure!
