Well, I gotta tell ya, cookin’ up a nice pork tenderloin with apples and onions is a mighty fine way to make a meal that’ll fill yer belly right up and leave you feelin’ satisfied. I reckon this dish is real easy to make, and don’t take much time neither, which is just how I like it. Now, don’t go gettin’ fancy with too many ingredients or things that’ll make your head spin. Just stick with the basics, and you’ll have somethin’ mighty tasty. Here’s how you do it.
First thing you need is a good ol’ piece of pork tenderloin. You want it fresh, not some old thing that’s been sittin’ around. And don’t forget them apples! I usually go for a good tart apple, like Granny Smith, cause it gives a nice kick when it cooks with the pork. Don’t forget a couple onions too, they’ll make the whole thing smell just wonderful.
Start by heatin’ up a skillet on the stove. Pour about two tablespoons of olive oil in there, let it get nice and hot. Once it’s sizzlin’, lay that pork tenderloin right in the pan. You gotta sear it on each side for a couple minutes—just long enough to get it browned real nice. Don’t be in no hurry, but don’t let it sit too long or it’ll burn. After you’ve seared it up real good, take that skillet and pop it in the oven.
If you don’t have a skillet that can go in the oven, you can just move the pork over to a bakin’ dish. Either way, you’ll want to roast it at about 375°F for, oh, 14 to 18 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when you stick a thermometer in the thickest part and it reads around 140°F. If you don’t have a thermometer, just cut into it a bit and check that it’s not pink inside—ain’t nobody wantin’ no raw pork!
While that pork’s cookin’, go ahead and slice up them apples and onions. You don’t need to be real precise with the slices, just chop ‘em up nice and even so they cook through well. When the pork’s done, take it out of the oven, and let it rest for a bit. Trust me, you don’t wanna cut into it too soon or all them juicy flavors will run out. Let it sit for at least 5 minutes, that’s the trick.
Now, while the pork’s restin’, throw them apples and onions in the same skillet you used for the pork. You might need to add a little more olive oil if the pan looks dry. Toss them apples and onions around in the skillet for a few minutes, just until they get nice and soft and start to caramelize. Oh, the smell will get yer mouth waterin’! You can even throw a little salt and pepper on ‘em if ya feel like it. Don’t need much, cause the pork’s got enough flavor on its own.
Once them apples and onions are cooked, slice up that pork tenderloin and lay it on top of the apples and onions. You can even drizzle a little of the juices from the pan over the meat if you like. That’ll give it a bit more of a rich taste. And there you have it—your pork tenderloin with apples and onions ready to eat!
This meal’s good for any ol’ day, whether you’re just wantin’ something simple for supper or you’re havin’ folks over. I’ll tell ya, it don’t matter if you’re a fancy cook or just someone who likes easy meals, this dish will do ya right. Give it a try, and I betcha you won’t be disappointed!
